The Bug

So starting on Thursday morning Elliot got "The Bug."  I mean the absolute worst stomach bug I have ever seen. He started throwing up at 6am and didn't stop until 6pm. Twelve straight hours of serious vomit. I called the nurse and she told me to wait until 7pm and if he hadn't had a wet diaper then he should see a doctor. Well by 6pm I had enough, I couldn't wait one more minute. He had thrown up 18 times and no wet diaper! So I called the doctor and another nurse told me to come right in! She couldn't believe I had been told to wait so long and was really concerned. So we went right in and Elliot had lost 12oz and was so dehydrated that we had to take him to the hospital. He got hooked up on an IV which was the most sad thing to ever watch. Because his hands are so chubby they couldn't find a vein very easily, KILL ME! But they finally did and he was doing a lot better by midnight. We got to have a little sleep over at the hospital with our sweet little guy. We hung out until around 7pm and he was good as new and we got discharged. Then... "The Bug" struck again, only I was its next victim. On the drive home from the hospital I threw up twice! Then 5 hours later and after throwing up at least 15 times, I began the road to recovery haha. Thank goodness for Jace and for all the pumping I did at the hospital while Elliot was hooked up to the IV, because Jace was able to totally step in and feed Elliot while I begged to live through the night. (I was a little more dramatic than Elliot, and a lot more whimpy.) Anyway, we are all doing much better and I wish so much I had a camera at the hospital because it was the cutest thing to see Elliot in his hospital outfit! It made our previous TV drama seem very minor, which by the way has been resolved thanks to my amazing parents loaning us one of theirs. Also it made me so grateful that we are all so healthy and happy and that we got to come home. It breaks my heart to think of those kids  who have illnesses that keep them cooped up in hospitals. We truly feel so blessed Elliot came out of it so quickly! And just be warned there is a violent bug going around, so take some vitamins!
